Ugly Builders grade cabinets to fab! Under 1,000!

This will be long and full of pictures! The only thing we have not done yet is a back splash. I'm not 100% sure on what I want. I'm not going to rush it. And hubby needs a break. We spent less than 800 dollars!!!

First things first the before.
I couldn't stand the oak or the blue laminated counters.

We decided we liked a more country look so we chose to inlay the cabinets with a wallpaper we found at lowes. We cut and glued.
It took a while lol
24 hrs later I could start to see what it was going to look like. Hubby chose the coral. I repainted it ;) we decided to go with the rustolem cabinet kit white.
With and without glaze. We perfered  the glaze.

Next base cabinets. I wanted a color but didn't know what. I ended up choosing a color another blogger choose. Valspar woodland charm. We had it color matched to behr and in a satin.
We again opted for the glaze
Painted the walls behr burnished clay and this is how it stayed for a bit. I was unsure how I wanted the island so I just sat on it until I decided.

Next we did the countertops. We chose to diy butcher block. Poplar planks.
We got these precut so hubby only had to cut the plywood base. We countersunk screws added a 1/4" trim then wood filled the seems and screw holes. Then we sanded them. Next came the stain.
Notice I'm still unsure about the island. The bead board has been added but I haven't finished it. We then 5x waterlox  the top.
Passed the water test.

Finally decided the island color and I couldn't be happier
We also added oil bronzed hardware.

We went ahead and did the other countertops in the garage before we transferred them in.

Our sink is from ikea and we had to retro fit the cabinet for it.
It's absolutely stunning.
Now the after!
This project has taken us 6 months to get to this point. But that's with 4 kids 6 and under! I'm happy we didn't rush.
