Operation Home Birth
After the birth of Brynlee I knew any subsequent pregnancies I wanted a home birth. Her labor and delivery opened my eyes and made me realize a hospital birth was not for me and I would NEVER allow any "professional" to treat me that way again!
When Bryn was over a year old I started becoming apart of our local homebirth community. Soaking in information asking some questions. I stayed in contact with Felicia (who was my doula) pretty regularly. I knew it was a matter of time before we would try again. I had certain things that needed to happen though before deciding on a fourth. 1st was to figure out my prolapse bladder issue, 2nd working on my ph levels and 3rd, the big one, buying a house.
In August of 2013 we put a bid on a house. After counter offering lots of times we decided to back off. A week later we got a call that the seller wanted to work with us and accepted our highest offer. That's when the fun began. The last week of August I found out I was pregnant. Very early. 2 wks or less. Tested positive 3 times, 2 seperate days, 3 days before my missed period. I was immediately worried. Moving while newly pregnant had me concerned. But I pressed on. One afternoon 4 days later I helped my mom clean and organize since we would be staying there starting the first of September until we closed. I started spotting but thought it was implantation bleeding.
I went home and all 3 girls took a nap with me. 2 hrs later we awoke and I was heavily bleeding. I knew I was miscarrying because of the amount. I bled for 14 days. Then 2 weeks later I found out I was pregnant again!! Very hesitant though. Unsure if it was a new pregnancy or not. After hcg blood testing it indeed was a new pregnancy. Not even being able to mourn for the first I had life inside of me again.
Everything happened so fast. We moved in with my parents. We were in escrow and I was dealing with horrible morning sickness and exhaustion. I was 8 wks pregnant when we moved into our house. Morning sickness getting worse and the exhaustion was overwhelming. Our house was a box mess for quite some time.
I didn't find relief until 15 wks. I finally started to feel better and was able to unpack and finish moving in.
19 weeks we found out we were having a girl!!!! And my prenatals started for my homebirth.
My New Years resolution was to finish the nursery that housed everything I had yet to unpack. It took a solid 2 weeks but everything was washed. Baby clothes were organized and baby girl had everything she needed cleaned and ready to go!
I then started to relax. Everything was organized and ready for a house full of people to welcome our newest baby girl.
I'm absolutely excited to give birth at home. I have so many expectations and can not wait. At 30 weeks right now it's just around the corner. I will rock this!! I plan on laboring outside in the fresh air and birthing in the birth pool that will be set up in our master bedroom. With Felicia by my side and a handful of family who do not necessarily agree with my choices, but who trust and support me I will have a beautiful and healing delivery.
I plan on having a photographer and videographer capture every moment. So for those who want... Stay tuned and I will share everything. :)
